Snowshoe hiking

Snowshoe hiking is an absolute must during a winter holiday in the Bad Kleinkirchheim region! Because in the south of Austria, the gently rolling, wintery alpine world of the Carinthian Nockberge stretches all around the region.

This can be explored up close especially with snowshoes. Let yourself be enchanted by a wonderful nature experience.

The mountain world around Bad Kleinkirchheim, with its gently rolling topography, offers ideal conditions for snowshoe hikes. The Nockberge, with their undulating ridges, also delight snowshoeing beginners.

You can therefore discover the fabulous winter landscape of Bad Kleinkirchheim in a leisurely manner away from the ski slopes - here you can experience personal sunshine moments.

Glittering blankets of snow and far away from everyday stress: more and more visitors to the region are drawn towards the pristine mountains in winter. Away from the hustle and bustle on the slopes, you will find some peace and quiet and recharge your batteries - one of the many reasons why snowshoe hiking is gaining popularity in Austria.

For all ages, snowshoe hiking offers a good alternative to conventional hikes in winter. Due to their wide shape, the snowshoes do not sink so far into the snow and you can walk quicker. Snowshoes also help with downhill stretches: the spikes on the sole provide a better grip, so there is a much lesser risk of slipping.

Route suggestion

Tour to Brunnachhöhe

The perhaps most beautiful route for snowshoeing is the tour to Brunnachhöhe at around 2000 metres above sea level.  The starting point is the peak station of the Brunnach cable car. From there, the romantically snowy trail leads along the Nockberge ridge towards Brunnachgatter.

While you are stepping leisurely through the snow, you should pause, take a deep breath and enjoy the wonderful view and pristine nature. From here you can look out directly towards the highest peak of the Nockberge - Rosennock.

The walking time for this tour, depending on your personal tempo, is around 1.5 hours.
